About Me

Malinda Nafziger moved to the Washington, DC area from Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2010 to attend American University. Over the next three years, she completed rigorous coursework in international studies, concentrating on peace and conflict resolution, the European Union, and issues of human rights. In Fall 2011, Malinda studied abroad through American University's European Union in Action program. While in Brussels, she took classes from EU experts and high ranking NATO officials, toured and worked in several European Union institutions, and visited the Balkan countries of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia. She also began independent research on European governance and the concept of a paperless system while abroad, a project that would become her undergraduate thesis.

Since graduating American University in 2013, Malinda has been a temporary assistant. Through temporary assignments, she has performed a variety of roles across the DC area. She has worked as an executive assistant to C level officials, a paralegal, and as project support. She has worked for nonprofits, microfinance organizations, law firms, and other companies based here or abroad. Combined with her education, the experience of temp work has made Malinda a well-rounded, experienced candidate.

In her spare time, Malinda enjoys art in all forms. An amateur painter, actress, and vocalist, she performs monthly with a small DC production company. Additionally, she enjoys writing and blogging on various platforms. She writes mainly about issues of feminism and social justice or creative pieces about her own experiences. Malinda is thankful for the constant loving support of her friends and family.
